NEW DEVELOPMENTS ON ARMENIAN-TURKISH RAILWAY

Russian company "South Caucasus Railway" CJSC (SCR) announced that
it is in negotiations with Poland for buying freight carriages to
supply an Armenian-Turkish railway. The company also announced its
plans to build a logistic centre at Akhurian station situated in the
Armenian-Turkish border corridor, reports Russian paper "Nezovisimaja
Gazeta."

Evidence proving that Armenia intends to purchase 120 freight carriages
from Polish Poznan factory for an Armenia-Turkey railway were published
by Polish media after Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador
of Armenia to Poland Ashot Galoyan’s visit to the company last week.

However, Armenia’s foreign minister has denied this information stating
that the ambassador’s visit to Poznan is related with the settlement
of relations in the region. The Armenian foreign ministry’s position
is most likely explained by Armenians’ unsettled attitude towards
the Armenian-Turkish Protocols, reported Polish paper Gazeta Wyborcza.

No comments were provided by South Caucasus Railway, who refused
even to answer the question why freight cars are being purchased from
Poland and not from Russia.

"In any case of clarify, official information will be provided,"
they stated at SCR.

At a press conference in Yerevan recently, a SCR representative
stated that the company is ready to start construction work on the
Armenia-Turkey railway two days after the border is opened.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
