Emergency situation in Naxcivan
A traditional summit of Turkic speaking countries has been opened
yesterday in Naxcivan with participation of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan,
Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.
Turkemistan is represented by President’s assistant, while
Uzbekistan’s representatives are absent.
It’s announced an emergency situation in Naxcivan during the
two-day-long summit: there was a call for less outgoing, numerous
colleges and offices have ceased working, armed forces are mobilized,
streets and roads are restricted to mass transit and crowd-movement.
Turkey’s President Abdullah Gul who is summit’s chief figure is
expected to meet with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliev and have
talks on Armenian-Turkish initialed protocols.
As Turkish media report, Mr. Gul is going to assure that Karabakh’s
issue remains important to Turkey.
