The sixth week of discussions on the Armenian and Turkish protocols
is ending. The Republican Party has not changed its opinion which is
to establish diplomatic relations with Turkey without preconditions,
says the secretary of the Republican Party Eduard Sharmazanov.

According to him, Serge Sargsyan’s tour is an unprecedented step
because it shows that Armenia and the Diaspora is a whole. The mission
of this tour is to create a tradition to cooperate with the Armenians
of Diaspora on national issues. Sharmazanov noted that many advise
them to learn the lessons that history gives. The Republican Party
did learn those lessons and proceeding from regional security and
stability issues Serge Sargsyan initiated the normalization of the
Armenian and Turkish relations without preconditions. Armenia does not
renounce the issue on the international recognition of the genocide
and Karabakh is not a precondition in those relations. The same said
also Barack Obama, says Sharmazanov.

Sharmazanov was asked about the protests organized by the Armenians of
Diaspora. He said the government cares for the opinion of the Diaspora
but political decisions are taken only by the Armenian government. No
one has the right to blame Serge Sargsyan in connection with this
issue.

Commenting on the words of another Republican member Galust Sahakyan
who called the protesters lees, Sharmazanov said Galust had never said
such a thing, and then added that he had not meant that, Sahakyan’s
words were wrongly interpreted.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
