In his interview to Russian paper Commersant, Armenian Foreign
Minister Edward Nalbandian touched upon the topic of constructing
a new nuclear power plant in Armenia, stating the process is in the
preparation phase.
"Today Russia is considered a central partner in the development of
peaceful nuclear power and we hope that Russia, as our strategic ally,
will cooperate with us also in this project," Nalbandian said.
The foreign minister added that the nuclear power plant is
a multilateral project, and today, it’s difficult to respond
unequivocally if there will be one or many partners.
Responding to a question about the Russian ArmStroyExport company’s
possible participation, Nalbandian answered that corresponding Russian
companies show great interest in the project.
