YEREVAN, OCTOBER 14, NOYAN TAPAN. The work on modernization of the
5th power unit of the Hrazdan Thermal Power Plant (TPP) is scheduled
to finish in 2010. After putting this power unit into operation,
ArmRusgazprom CJSC plans to export power.

"After the completion of the modernization program, we will have a
480-megawatt power unit – the largest in the South Caucasus – with
a high economic efficiency, that is, the specific fuel consumption
for generating one kwh of electricity will be minimal", Director of
Hrazdan 5 Karen Sargsyan said.

According to him, the work is proceeding in accordance with the
schedule.

Modern equipment based on complex technological solutions has been
imported and installed for reconstruction of the TPP’s boiler unit,
which makes this facility unique not only in the region, byt also in
the world.

About 376 million dollars was invested for completing the construction
of the Hrazdan TPP 5th unit and its modernization, including 248.8
million dollars for the purchase of property. 24 billion drams was
invested in January-September 2009. Investments were made with the
company’s own resources, as well as borrowed ones – ArmRusgazprom
is cooperating with several local and foreign financial institutions
with the aim of receiving long-term loans. ArmRusgazprom also applied
to the RA government with the request to provide a credit. In October
the government made a decision to give a short-term budgetary credit
to the company.
