YOANI SANCHEZ CANNOT RECEIVE MARIA MOORS CABOT PRIZE

Yoani Sanchez, a Cuban blogger named one of the 100 most world
influential people by TIME magazine last year, has been denied
permission to travel to New York.

According to CNN, when Columbia University said it would award Yoani
Sanchez the Maria Moors Cabot Prize special citation she asked the
Cuban government for permission to travel to New York this week and was
denied. Such a refusal caused by her criticism of Cuba’s Government.

"The immigration office just informed me that the ban remains on my
leaving the country," Ms Sanchez shared Monday via Twitter, where
she has 6,638 followers.

Yoani Sanchez writes a blog "Generación Y" that gets more than 1
million hits a month.
