The deputy of the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov has
invited to Baku the acting commissioner of Turkey Nihat Jivaneri
and has presented an official complain stressing that on October 14
in Bursa city an disrespectful treatment has been shown towards the
official flag of Azerbaijan, inform the Azerbaijani media.
The local authorities had forbidden the fans to appear in the stadium
with the Azerbaijani flags. By the way, this decision was accepted
by FIFA. The executive secretary of that organization Jerom Valken
4,5 hours before the game, had informed the representatives of the
Turkish football federation, if the action with the Azerbaijani
flags didn’t stop the game would be delayed. The head of the Turkish
football federation Mahmud Ozgener on its turn informed about it to
the authorities of the country.
