["TURKISH PREMIER SAYS ALSO ARMENIAN PRESIDENT HAD SOME PROBLEMS REGARDING
HIS VISIT TO TURKEY" – AA headline]
ANKARA (A.A) -Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on
Thursday [15 October] that also Armenian President Serzh Sargsian
had some problems regarding his visit to Turkey to watch a World Cup
qualifying match between the soccer teams of Turkey and Armenia in the
northwestern province of Bursa.
Prior to his departure for Iraq, Erdogan held a press conference at Esenboga
Airport in Ankara.
Replying to a question on the match and Turkish-Armenian relations, Erdogan
said, "the process (between Turkey and Armenia) started with AK (Justice and
Development) Party’s coming into the political power. We came to power to
establish friendly relations with countries."
"Some speculations took place regarding Wednesday’s match. But all of you
should know that also Sargsian had some problems regarding his visit. He
faced some problems stemming from the opposition in his country. We took all
necessary measures. The match took place in a peaceful atmosphere," he
stated.
