Azeri Army must be ready to free occupied territories – President Aliyev
BAKU Oct 15
While Azerbaijan is trying to settle the Karabakh conflict peacefully,
it must be prepared for a violent scenario as well, said country’s
President Ilham Aliyev.
"We are trying to make sure that the Karabakh conflict is resolved
peacefully. But our fundamental position remains firm: this conflict
must be resolved in the framework of Azerbaijan’s territorial
integrity, the Armenian armed forces must leave the occupied
territories, refugees must return to their territories," Aliyev said
at the opening of a house for World War II veterans and Karabakh war
invalids in the village of Govsany near Baku on Thursday.
Azerbaijan continues to increase its military might, though it
requires great financial resources, Aliyev said. "But we must do this.
The war is not over yet. Only the first stage of the war is over, and
we must be prepared every minute to free our lands from the
occupants," said Aliyev, adding Azerbaijan’s armed forces are the
strongest in the region.
