Armenians in US ask Turkish Diaspora for help: head of Turk-American Assembly

The United States, Oct. 14 /Trend News, N.Bogdanova/

The Turkish Diaspora in the US refused to interfere in solution of
interior problems of the Armenian Diaspora, the head of Turk-American
Assembly, Gunay Evinch told Trend News.

He said those Armenians who support the signing of the protocols asked
Turkish Diapsora in the US for help against those Armenians in America
who protest against the protocols.

But the Turkish Diaspora didn’t accept the request of Armenians, as
they do not want to be a part of the problems that exist within
Armenian Diasopora in US.

Turkish and Armenian Foreign Ministers, Ahmet Davutoglu and Edward
Nalbandian signed the Ankara-Yerevan protocol in Zurich on Oct. 10.

Armenian-Turkish ties have been severed since 1993 due to Armenia’s
claims to recognize so-called "Armenian genocide" and Armenia’s
occupation of Azerbaijani lands.

Last week, during Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s visit to the
United States, Europe, Argentina and Lebanon, representatives of the
Armenian communities abroad, opposing the agreement with Turkey, met
the president with protests and rallies.

The protestors sounded the slogans "Traitor!", "No protocol".

Sargsyan’s policy is also protested by several opposition parties in
Armenia, which held rallied against the signing of the protocols.

According to Evinch, the Turkish Diaspora unlike Armenian one doesn’t
get under the influence of political processes. He said that the
signed protocols didn’t anyhow affect the unity of Turkish and
Azerbaijani Diasporas.

Evinch said that during the recent period the image of Turkish and
Azerbaijani Diasporas in the US is getting more weight. Using this
authorizes, Turkish Diaspora in the states of California and Ohio
managed to prevent the Armenian false initiatives concerning the
events of the time period of Ottoman Empire, he added.

The head of Diaspora also added that according to his information the
number of US congress members supporting the bill-project about the
"Armenian genocide" had lessened.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
