Representatives of numerous Armenian state agencies headed by
National Security Council Secretary Artur Baghdasaryan, as well as
representatives of numerous European structures, met with the EU
Advisory Group in Armenia in Yerevan today.

The EU Advisory Group comprised of 11 people has been in Armenia
since April 1, 2009; the group provides consultation to Armenia on
the implementation of the European Neighbourhood Policy Action Plan
and on strengthening democratic and economic structures.

The advisory group cooperates with the interdepartmental commission
coordinating the cooperation of Armenia’s state bodies with European
structures, the president of which is Artur Baghdasaryan.

As stated by Baghdasaryan, the committee he heads has already held
5 meetings, and numerous working groups were created which organized
197 events related to Armenia’s social and political life. Connected
with future work, Baghdasaryan placed importance to more involvement
of the EU Advisory Group in the works of the Committee on Freedom,
Justice and Security to be created between Armenia and the EU, as
well as cooperation over border security issues.

Head of EU Commission Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Raul
de Luzenberger, for his part, expressed satisfaction with the
implementation process of the project in Armenia and added that the
experience in Armenia was so effective that they intend to apply that
experience in other countries.

"The EU Advisory Group became the format with which we’ll work with
the countries included in Eastern Partnership for their approximation
according to EU criteria," Ambassador Luzenberger particularly stated.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
