Devlet Bahceli, the leader Nationalist Movement Party (Turkish:
Milliyetci Hareket Partisi, MHP), accused Turkish Prime Minister
Recep Tayyip Erdogan of overtly "befooling" Azerbaijan by signing
the Armenian-Turkish protocols, reported the Hurriyet newspaper.
He reminded the Azerbaijani people that the Justice and Development
Party ruling in Turkey does not represent the entire Turkish people.
Bahceli pointed out that the Turkish authorities’ blunders must not
worsen the bilateral relation.
NEWS.am reminds the readers that the MHP is strongly against the
Armenia-Turkey normalization process and the settlement of the Kurdish
problem initiated by the Turkish authorities. The Turkish Premier
lodged a claim against the MHP leader for going beyond the limits
and bringing ungrounded accusations.
The Turkish Premier reminded Devlet Bahceli that, as far back as 1990s,
Alparslan TurkeÅ~_ the MHP founder, was actively negotiating with the
then Armenian leaders and offered even better conditions to Armenia.
At that time, Alparslan TurkeÅ~_ offered Armenia open borders, electric
energy, grain and even access to a port in Trabzon Province – all that
in exchange for ceasefire. He also offered Armenia’s involvement in
different energy projects.
