OBAMA-GUL TO DISCUSS HISTORIC PROGRESS OF ARMENIAN-TURKISH TIES

President Barack Obama discussed Saturday "historic progress" being
made to normalize relations between Turkey and Armenia with Turkish
President Abdullah Gul, "CNN Turk" reports. The two leaders also
spoke about "the importance of maintaining the momentum in this
important effort".
Former foes Turkey and Armenia signed historic deals last week that
were backed by world powers to end decades of hostility, establish
formal ties and open their border.
The tow have also discussed the situation in Afghanistan, Turkish
media refers to the White House as saying, as he weighs whether to
dramatically ramp up the US effort there.
