ArmInfo. In Q3 2009 the turnover of the UNIStream international money
transfer system in Armenia grew by 78% to $385.3mln.

According to Unibank, transfers from abroad into Armenia grew by 80%
to $346.1mln, from Armenia to abroad by 62.3% to $39.1mln. The number
of transactions grew by 66.5% to 512,055 (483,198 incoming and 28,857
outgoing transfers).

96% of incoming UNIStream transfers were from Russia, 1% from Ukraine,
0.8% from Greece, 0.5% from Kazakhstan, 0.3% from the UK. 88% of
outgoing transfers were to Russia, 6% to Ukraine, 2% to Georgia, 0.6%
to Bulgaria, 0.4% to UAE.

60% ($232mln) of the transfers were in USD, 31% (119mln RUR) in RUR, 5%
(20mln EUR) in EUR and 4% (15mln AMD) in AMD.

Director General of UNIStream Suren Hayriyan says that Jan-Sept
2009 was a hard period for the global money transfer market due to
macro-economic situation, devaluation of national currencies and
influence of the crisis on labor migration. This year UNIStream has
shown high growth and is leading on the CIS money transfer market. "We
have implemented a number of big projects: we have opened own network
in Russia, Greece and Germany and are growing into a big international
player," says Hayriyan.

UNIStream has operated in Armenia via its exclusive partner, Unibank,
since 2002.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
