/PanARMENIAN.Net/ President Serzh Sargsyan has received Kunio Mikuriya,
Secretary General of World Customs Organization (WCO).

Mr. Sargsyan expressed hope that the visit would help expand
cooperation with customs services of other states and contribute to
progress in current reforms.

Implementing reforms in customs system and bringing it in compliance
with international standards is especially important in crisis time.

"We have fixed certain progress in the sphere but still have much to
do. So we set much hope on your assistance," the President said.

WCO Secretary General noted in turn that progress in Armenia’s customs
system was obvious, and subsequent reforms would help increase trade
volumes, attract investments and hence increase incomes in the sphere.

Kunio Mikuriya also expressed willingness to assist Armenia in the
implementation of reforms.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
