ECO-EXPO IN THE FRAME OF SUNCHILD ENVIRONMENTAL FESTIVAL

ArmInfo. Eco-Expo is underway in Armenia in the frame of SunChild
Environmental Festival. The expo will be underway from October 26th to
29th in the hall of NPAK (Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental
Art), in the same building where most of the festival’s film program
will be screened. Thus all visitors of the films will automatically
also pass the Eco-expo. Surely the whole exhibition will also raise
a lot of media attention.

The event organizers say SunChild Environmental Festival wants to
promote change and advocate for a caring attitude towards nature. The
SunChild Eco-Expo is a colorful and attractive event which aims to
introduce Armenian society to positive ecological approaches. For
example, the saving of energy and water, recycling, and the reduction
of garbage by using sustainable materials. It will also offer teachers
and parents the possibility to inform themselves about new creative
approaches in environmental education. The core of the Eco-Expo
will be an exhibition of the environmental projects implemented all
throughout Armenia by the young members of SunChild Eco-clubs. Each
SunChild Eco-club will have a booth where the young members can
display their environmental activities. The young environmentalists
will demonstrate environmental handicrafts like beautiful self made
paper from waste paper, and art objects made from garbage. They will
also present how to build a solar oven from tin cans. Moreover they
will inform the public through self-made brochures and booklets about
nature protection and environmentally friendly behavior.

In addition to the booths of the SunChild Eco-clubs the festival
organizers want to offer companies and international organizations the
chance to present their green products, strategies and achievements.

So, for example a printing house will present recycling paper, OSCE
will introduce the structure of Aarhus Centers to the public and the
GTZ department for sustainable management of biodiversity will offer
insights into its work here in Armenia.

The aim of the festival is to focus public attention on wildlife and
nature preservation issues, raise their awareness around those issues
targeting all groups of the society – children, youth, businessmen,
as well as ordinary citizens.

The festival program is comprised of a rich film program and also
various environmental activities and campaigns. 85 films from 35
countries are listed in the film program with 16 films included in the
main competition program and 35 films – in the informational program.

Keeping children and youth in the centre of attention, the festival
program involves an extensive film program for children with 32 films
in the educational and children’s film competition category. The key
partner and co-organizer of the festival is VivaCell-MTS company.
