ArmIfo. Mayor of Bursa Shahabeddin Garpurt gave a press-conference
during which he commented on the results of investigation ‘on
offence of the Azerbaijani flags during Turkey-Armenia football
match’. As Bakililar.AZ reports, Garpurt said that Head of the Police
was dismissed and two policemen, who threw the Azerbaijani flags
into the trash-cans, were reprimanded. According to the mayor, the
video-materials of the Turkish TV channels, newspapers and electron
media, demonstrating how the Azerbaijani flags were thrown into the
trash-cans, were studied. Garpurt said the scenes were shot by the
policemen. Currently, the video-materials have been sent to Turkey’s
Prosecutor’s Office. The fact is being investigated by the republican
Prosecutor’s Office.
To recall, the incidents with flags are related to October 14 football
match between the Armenian and Azerbaijani national teams. The Turkish
party, under FIFA pressure, banned the presence of the Azerbaijani
flags at the stadium, in response to which the furious and the Police
started to throw the Azerbaijani flags into the trash-can. Then,
they in Azerbaijan started to tear the Turkish flags off. Currently,
both parties start revealing the guilty of non-respect to the national
symbolic.
