Turkey started losing Azerbaijan as well as the principle "one nation,
two states" does not work," said Director of the Armenian Center for
National and International Studies (ACNIS) Richard Giragosian in the
course of Oct. 27 discussions on Armenia-Turkey relations. He recalled
the removal of Turkish flags in Baku, underlining that Azerbaijan
went it strong repelling Turkey, at that the trend carries on.
"Turkey attempts to stabilize the situation in Kurdish territories
both by force and priming of economic development. In addition,
Armenia-Turkey border opening might assist this process.
Simultaneously, Turkey will protract the Protocols’ ratification
seeking to enhance its role in border opening," Giragosian stated.
According to the expert, Turkey along with political and diplomatic
activities launches initiatives in cultural sector. In particular,
cultural events such as fair of books and video materials are held
in Kars, Van and Ani. Turkish businessmen take interest in Armenia
that testifies the reality of border opening. "It is also proved
by Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu recent statements,
who seeks to establish favorable atmosphere around border opening,"
Richard Giragosian concluded.
