KSHISHTOF PENDERETSKY INTENDS TO WRITE CHORAL BASED ON ARMENIAN SPIRITUAL MUSIC

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Polish composer Kshishtof Penderetsky intends
to create musical compositions based on the elements of Armenian
spiritual music, which will have texts in Armenian.
"I am open for Christian spiritual music. I was brought up as a
Catholic and received musical education in a German school, but
that doesn’t prevent me from creating works based on the motives of
Orthodox Christian Music. One of such works in "Glory to St. Daniel"
devoted to the 850 anniversary of Moscow. I intend to write chorals
which will have texts in Armenian language and contain elements of
Armenian spiritual music," composer said.
Kshishtof Penderetsky was born in Dembitsa, Poland on November 25,
1933, to a family of lawyer. Composer, conductor, public figure
and pedagogue, he is one of the most outstanding representatives
of contemporary musical culture. His creative art has acquired a
genuinely international character. Polish composer’s music is played
in the concert halls of Europe, Asia, America and Australia. He is
author of operas, oratorios and instrumental concerts. Almost all of
his works are recorded on discs and included in the repertoires of
such prominent artists as Z. Meta, I. Stern and D. Fisher-Dieskau.
Penderetsky is a holder of three Grammies and two Emmies and laureate
of state awards.
