which is being held in Moscow, Russia. from November 5 to 18, 2009.

His opponents are Viswanathan Anand (India), Vladimir Kramnik
(Russia), Maggnus Carlsen (Norway), Peter Leko (Hungary), Boris
Gelfand (Israel), Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukraine), Alexander Morozevich
(Russia), Peter Svidler (Russia) and Ruslan Ponomariov (Ukraine),
RA Chess Federation reports.

Journalist, Editor-in-Chief of "Shakhs" journal (Riga, 1960-70),
Mikhail Tal (1936-92) is the 8th World Chess Champion (1960-61)
and six times USSR champion (1957-78). He has been winner in around
40 international tournaments and 8 World Tournaments representing
USSR (1958-82). In 1988, he held his first victory in quick chess
competition (with each chess player having no more than 5 minutes),
leaving behind world Champion G. Kasparov and ex-World Champion
A. Karpov.
