ARMENIAN PRESIDENT RE-ELECTED AS LEADER OF RULING REPUBLICAN PARTY

Armenian President Serzh Sargsian has been re-elected as the leader
of the Republican Party.
The party leader election was held at the party’s 12th congress
on Saturday.
Sargsian was the only candidate for this position. A total of 1,738
delegates voted, 1,669 ballots were found valid.
The congress also elected the party’s executive body which now
includes new party member Prime Minister Tigran Sargsian and Yerevan
Mayor Gagik Beglarian. The finance and economic ministers, the chief
of the governmental staff, as well as several deputy ministers have
also joined the political party.
The Republican Party is the ruling political force in Armenia.
