Oldberg Ingmar pointed out that, there is a belief that key countries,
like Russia or United States play a great role in the negotiation
process. On the other hand it is sometimes said that they are just
following their own interests.

But analyst believes that, Russia is not very interested in a
settlement, because status quo allows it to play a mediating role.

"Therefore other neighbors plus US and EU should engage more" –
he stressed.

During the year of 2009 Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents met for
6 times, but didn’t come to any particular progress.

According to the Mr. Ingmar, "lacking in the negotiation process is
presence of and more engagement by leaders of neighboring states like
Turkey, Russia, Georgia, plus USA".

Answering the question about risks in the region analyst stressed
that war in Georgia was not connected, but increases need of a
Nagorno-Karabakh settlement.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
