YEREVAN, DECEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS: Today is the International Day of
Disabled People and in connection with it Armenian Prime Minister
Tigran Sargsyan pointed out today at the session the importance of
increase of attention toward the disabled people.
There are about 178,000 handicapped people in Armenia, 8274 of which
are children. "Today’s symbol is to once again draw our attention
to the issues the handicapped people are facing. As government we
have to improve the life of the handicapped people and, which is
more important, ensure their integration to the society so that they
feel full members in all the spheres of the public life," the prime
minister said.
According to him, with that aim cooperation must be established
with relevant non-governmental organizations to change the public’s
attitude toward disabled people. This upbringing must be given from
kinder-garten and school as a result the handicapped people will not
feel them isolated from the society.
