OSCE COUNCIL OF FOREIGN MINISTERS CALLS FOR KEEPING POSITIVE DYNAMICS IN NEGOTIATIONS OVER NAGORNO KARABAKH CONFLICT

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 3, NOYAN TAPAN. The OSCE Council of Foreign Ministers
adopted a statement on December 2 in Athens, which read:

"We welcome the December 1 joint statement of OSCE co-chairing
countries’ Foreign Ministers, Lavrov, Kouchner, and Deputy Secretary
of State Steinberg, as well as RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian
and Azeri Foreign Minister Mammadiarov.

We call the sides for keeping the positive dynamics of cooperation
and completely support their commitment, final coordination of the
Nagorno Karabakh conflict peaceful settlement’s Basic Principles on
the basis of Madrid document for them to immediately and of their
own free will to start working out a comprehensive peaceful agreement.

The Ministers confirmed their commitment to work with diligence to
settle the unsolved issues, to reach an agreement, in particular,
on the basis of principles of non-use of force or threat of
force, territorial integrity, equality of peoples’ rights and
self-determination stipulated by the Helsinki final document. We are
convinced that a real possibility has been created today to build a
peaceful, stable and prosperous future in the whole region."
