Turkey may ban pro-Kurdish party
05.12.2009 16:54 GMT+04:00

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Next week, Turkey’s Constitutional Court will begin
hearing the case of banning the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party
(CDP), requiring endorsement of 7 of 11 judges. The prosecution calls
to ban the party since it is "focused on activities that could lead to
the collapse of the state." Prosecutors allege that CDP had direct
links with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and violated
the law "On political parties". The prosecution also calls to forbid
about 220 party members, including party leadership, being engaged in
political activity, Hurriyet Daily News wrote.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
