PRESIDENT OF LATVIA VALDIS ZATLERS PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE MEMORY OF THE VICTIMS OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 10, ARMENPRESS: President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers,
who is in Armenia at the invitation of the Armenian President Serzh
Sargsyan, together with his spouse Lilita Zatlere, visited today
Tsitsernakaberd memorial to pay tribute to the memory of the victims
of the Armenian Genocide.
Accompanied with the Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan and
director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Hayk Demoyan,
the Latvian president and members of his entourage put wreath and
flowers at the eternal flame. H. Demoyan presented the history of
the greatest crime against the humanity of the 20th century and the
history of the monument.
The guest also visited the Armenian Genocide Museum. "You cannot
erase the memory of the humanity. It remains forever and passes
from generation to generation," the Latvian president wrote down in
the memorial book. In the Memory Alley Valdis Zatlers planted the
symbolizing tree.
Today the Latvian president is expected to meet with Armenian President
Serzh Sargsyan. Within the framework of the visit he will also have
meetings with the NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan, Prime Minister Tigran
Sargsyan, will be hosted by His Holiness Catholicos of All Armenians
Karekin II.
Armenian-Latvian business forum will open with the participation
of the presidents of the two countries. In Yerevan State University
President Zatlers will meet with the professor staff and students of
the university. In Yerevan municipality Latvian president will meet
with Mayor Gagik Beglaryan and will visit the Yerevan History Museum.
