ARMENIAN CITIZEN UNCOVERED AS SPY FOR AZERBAIJAN

RA National Security Service Investigation Department has concluded
the preliminary investigation for the criminal proceedings on the
matter of state treason through espionage and the illegal acquisition
and possession of weapons and ammunition.

As announced by the RA General Prosecutor’s press office, it was
revealed and confirmed during the preliminary investigation that
Republic of Armenia citizen and former staff of the Ministry of Defense
G. Hayrapetyan was recruited by Azerbaijani Special Forces in April,
and based on the task he was assigned, gathered and transmitted
to them secret information about the fighting ability and defense
capacity of the RA armed forces, as well as certain items with the
aim of realizing anti-Armenian propaganda.

The last assignment Hayrapetyan received from the Azerbaijani Special
Forces was from Iranian citizen, ethnic Azeri B. Bagheri, who visited
Armenia on September 1, 2009.

Hayrapetyan welcome Bagheri into his home as a guest, and receiving
his next assignment in an envelope, transferred items to Bagheri that
could’ve been used for spreading anti-Armenia propaganda.

A search through Hayrapetyan’s home revealed a firearm and ammunition.
