HISTORY MUSEUM OF ARMENIA OPENS NEW EXHIBITION HALL

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ New exhibition hall in the History Museum of Armenia
opened on December 17, featuring a valuable collection of artifacts
excavated over the last century on the territory of the country.
"The exhibition features artifacts, which date back 200 000 – 1000 BC.
For the first time more than 1200 artifacts belonging to all stages of
the ancient Stone and Bronze Ages from 200 archaeological localities
are exhibited. The collection is valuable because all items have been
found on the territory of Armenia. It will help us learn the history of
our country better than ever," Museum director Anelka Grigoryan said.
The territory of the new exhibition hall, which is 1500 square meters,
will be enlarged by spring enabling to exhibit the pieces of Armenian
culture of Urartian, Byzantine, Hellenistic and Christian periods
up to the 7th century. Currently there are more than half a million
archaeological, ethnographic, documentary exhibits in the Museum of
History of Armenia.
The exhibition was visited by the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan,
Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan and cultural workers.
