SUREN SURENYANTS: ARMENIAN-TURKISH PROTOCOLS WILL BE RATIFIED IN JANUARY-MARCH

Member of the Political Board of the Republic Party Suren Surenyants
is confident that the Armenian-Turkish protocols will be ratified in
January-March, 2010. "If this doesn’t happen, it will mean that there
is political crisis in both countries, where the ruling parties hold
majority in the Parliament," he told a press conference today.
According to Surenyants, any of the parties is trying to gain the
maximum from the process. He positively assesses the signing of the
Armenian-Turkish protocols from the point of view of creation of a
common security system in the region. Besides, they will positively
affect the process of settlement of the Karabakh issue, he said.
"After establishing normal relations with Armenia, Turkey will have a
more objective position in the Karabakh settlement process. I’m almost
confident that after the ratification of the protocols, Armenia and
Azerbaijan will sign a framework agreement on the settlement of the
Karabakh issue, and I see nothing bad here," Suren Surenyants said.
