PRELATE TO CELEBRATE DIVINE LITURGY
AT THE LAS VEGAS PARISH

On Sunday, December 20th, 2009, H.E. Archbishop Moushegh
Mardirossian, Prelate, will celebrate Divine Liturgy and deliver the sermon
at the Las Vegas parish.
Very Rev. Fr. Nerseh Shekhougian, Dean of the Venezuela Parish who
is here on a visit, and Rev. Fr. Avedis Torossian will assist at the altar.
At the conclusion of Divine Liturgy the Prelate will preside over
the requiem service for long-time church and community member Seda Der
Garabedian-Barnes on the first anniversary of her passing.
After the church service the Prelate will meet with members of the
parish council and community.

PRELATE WELCOMES GLENDALE POLICE CHIEF

On the afternoon of Thursday, December 17th, H.E. Archbishop
Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelate, welcomed to the Prelacy Glendale Chief of
Police Ronald L. De Pompa, who was accompanied by Lieutenant Ian Grimes.
Participating in the meeting was Rev. Fr. Ardak Demirjian, Executive Council
members Dr. Navasart Kazazian and Mr. Garo Eshgian, and Principal of
Chamlian School Mr. Vazken Madenlian.
During his visit, De Pompa, who was recently appointed Chief of
Police, spoke of his responsibilities and of garnering the support of
Armenian community leaders and members. Chief De Pompa and Lieutenant
Grimes also shed light on their service within the Glendale community and on
challenges they face.
The Prelate congratulated Chief De Pompa and wished him success in
his new position. The Prelate asserted that the Prelacy and the Armenian
community are ready to collaborate with the police department for the
betterment and advancement of the community. The meeting concluded with an
understanding to have similar meetings in the future between the police
department and community members.

PRELATE PRESIDES OVER REQUIEM SERVICE
FOR STEPAN KABADAYAN

On the evening of Wednesday, December 16th, 2009, a requiem service
for long-time church and community servant Stepan Kabadyan took place at St.
Mary’s Church in Glendale. The Prelate presided over the service, after
which a tribute was held in the Glendale Youth Center. The tribute was
organized by St. Mary’s Church, Chamlian School, Tufenkian Pre-School, ARF
Aharonian and Zavarian Gomidehs, and Homenetmen Ararat Chapter.
The Master of Ceremonies was Mr. Kevork Bedikian. Remarks were
delivered by Mrs. Rima Boghossian (on behalf of St. Mary’s Church Board of
Trustees), Mr. Hrair Shirikian (ARF Zavarian Gomideh), Mrs. Arsine
Aghazarian (Tufenkian Pre-School), Mr. Roupen Gorjian (Homenetmen Ararat
Chapter), Mr. Vahe Bozoyan (ARF Aharonian Gomideh), and Mr. Vazken Madenlian
(Chamlian School).
Concluding remarks were delivered by the Prelate, in which he lauded
the multi-faceted service of Mr. Kabadayan.
