RA President: Kazakhstan’s presidency in OSCE will help CSTO member
states to introduce their approaches to various issues

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ A non-formal summit of several CIS country leaders
was convened on Saturday, December 19, on the outskirts of Almaty,
Kazakhstan. Present at the summit was Armenian President Serzh
Sargsyan, as well as the top leaders of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan,
Kygyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

Discussion focused on integration processes on CIS territory, as well
as possibility of extending trade-economic cooperation, the activities
of the recently established anti-crisis fund, CSTO member states’
security, as well as cooperation within international organizations.
Expressing gratitude to his Kazakh counterpart Norsultan Nazarbaev for
organizing the summit, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan recalled the
key decisions adopted during the non-formal summit last year.

In that regard, Armenian leader focused special attention on the
creation of Collective Rapid Reaction Forces (CRRF) and the subsequent
military exercises, as well as the decision on establishing an
anti-crisis fund and a technological centre. Mr. Sargsyan attached
major importance to the activities aimed at developing cooperation and
integration processes, including political-military cooperation and
joint preparation of human resources, as well as strengthening
security.
Serzh Sargsyan congratulated Norsultan Nazarbaev on his country’s
taking OSCE chairmanship starting from 2010. Noting that Kazakakhstan
was the first CSTO member state to assume OSCE chairmanship, Mr.
Sargsyan reiterated Armenia’s willingness to assist the country,
considering that it will help CSTO member states to introduce their
positions and arguments on regional problems and global cooperation
issues.

The non-formal summit of CIS leader will last till December 20.
Thereafter, President Serzh Sargsyan will return to Armenia, RA
President’s press service reported.
