ArmInfo. "The militaristic threats by Azerbaijan have always been
heard. We try to less respond them, however, we are ready not just
to respond but also take specific steps if necessary. We saw the
war and know its horrors and troubles. The Azerbaijani authorities
also saw the war, and it should do its best to avoid it. However,
it does not mean that we ask. No, we do not ask but firmly stand on
our positions and, if required, we shall fulfill our tasks at the
appropriate level and will protect our Motherland", Defense Minister
of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan, being in Nagorno Karabakh, said.

He also said that "today, we should direct all our forces not to such
a militaristic rhetoric, but to promotion of the negotiation process
on such a way that would lead to the final resolution of the issue
around the negotiating table, in the conditions of a dialogue and
peace". Speaking of the army construction, the minister said: "We
seriously work towards logistical assistance of our armed forces. The
issues of upgrading, equipment with up-to-date arms and equipment are
the priority for us. We pay more attention to the qualitative and not
quantitative indicators". According to him, the year 2009 was a year
of success for the army in the context of the personnel preparation.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
