Yerevan
Yerevan (Yerkir) – Vahan Hovhannisyan, the leader of the ARF faction
in parliament, speaking of 2009 achievements, said that there almost
was no progress. He said the only relatively positive event was the
job done by the parliamentary commission probing the March 1 events.
"The conclusion was correct and balanced. A positive step was taken
in terms of calming down the social rage. However, I wouldn’t say
the measures taken were fully successful," Hovhannisyan said.
Speaking of the negative events, Hovhannisyan pointed to the cabinet’s
failure to deal with the economic challenges. He said that the worst
thing to happen this year was the signing of the Armenian-Turkish
protocols. "Armenia’s authorities made an unforgivable mistake,
becoming a hostage to the Turkish concept of the Armenian-Turkish
relations," he said.
