/PanARMENIAN.Net/ In October 2009, a group of students and graduates
of the State University – Higher School of Economics of Moscow launched
a unique project, the Armenian Club of SU-HSE.

"Although it is not the first national entity within our university’s
international family (the Russian Club was also formed), the Armenian
Club is unique because it’s meant to unite the Armenian Diaspora
and to engage SU-HSE progressive students in the intercultural
communication and education process. Our club has about 200 members,"
said Hovhannes Ispiryan, the chairman of the club. "Our main goal is
to show the diversity of cultures and traditions and share the values
of Armenian culture with everyone who wishes to know it. We believe
that we will create a new interesting atmosphere in our university. We
hope sincerely that our initiative will encourage students of other
nationalities to establish similar clubs in the future, so that we
could more closely communicate with each other."

In addition, the club is planning to promote development of
Russian-Armenian cultural, educational and scientific cooperation.

The Armenian club projects to organize master-classes of well-known
personalities, lectures and conferences on the history and culture
of Armenia, debates on current political, economic, cultural issues,
as well as the publication of news and analytical materials.

Cultural evenings, meetings with artists, concerts and movie screenings
are also envisaged. It’s notable that an event dedicated to the master
of Soviet animation Robert Sahakyants was held on November 26, 2009.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
