CONGRESS’S BIGGEST MISTAKE

For the Armenian National Congress, it is difficult to assess it as
an achievement because there is the current government nevertheless,
it was important during the year that the Congress succeeded as a
whole institutional opposition. The author of this opinion is the
member of the Armenian national Congress David Shahnazaryan.
As a HAK mistake, David Shahnazaryan noted the presence of political
prisoners. He says Congress has always considered this a primary
issue. Shahnazaryan notes that the "nomenclature opposition, in
particular the Dashnaktsutyun", did not understand that the issue of
political prisoners is more important than the Armenian and Turkish
and the Karabakh issues. According to him, a government which keeps
political prisoners cannot be firm and care for national interests.
David Shahnazaryan agreed with the opinion of a partner of the HAK,
the head of the HZhK party Stepan Demirchyan that a break is to be
temporary. "In nature, everything must be temporary. I think our break
was right and calculated which has brought and keeps bringing political
dividends to us", says David Shahnazaryan. According to him, the phase
of activation will also come. But Shahnazaryan, like other members of
the HAK did not mention any concrete dates. He voiced his expectation
that the Armenian people will register serious success in 2010.
