LOS ANGELES PRESS CLUB PROMISES TO REGULATE THE INFORMATION FIELD

More than twenty Armenian dailies, weeklies and magazines, as well
as the programs of the eight TV Companies of Glendale have nothing
to do with each other, and sometime with reality.
The competition between the TV Companies often resembles hostility,
while the newspapers back the interests of some groups or political
parties and do not reflect the real picture.
The newly opened Los Angeles Press Club aims to correct the situation
and finally regulate the information field. Last week presentation
of the Club was attended by representatives of newspapers, TV
Companies, separate TV programs and electronic periodicals, as well
as representatives from foreign media.
The initiator and President of the Press Club Arthur Sahakyan said
in his opening remarks that the Los Angeles Press Club "provides a
place for Armenian and international journalists to gather, network,
and learn from one another irrespective of their party affiliation and
political views." "It aims to put an end to hostility and hatred and
replace it with healthy competition and civilized debates," Arthur
Sahakyan said.
The Los Angeles Press Club exists to support, promote, and defend
quality Armenian and international journalism in Southern California.
It is the only organization in Southern California that speaks for all
journalists-newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and the Internet.
