Filmmakers Narine Lazarian and Arsen Azatyan pitched their
feature-length film "Peace" at this year’s Connecting Cottbus, an
East-West co-production market, as part of FilmFestival Cottbus in
Germany, where filmmakers can submit new feature film projects to
an audience of European professionals in order to find partners for
successful realization.

Azatyan, in speaking with Tert.am, stated that their project "Peace"
was one of the 13 chosen to be pitched during the November session.

This is the first time that an Armenian film project has been presented
at Connecting Cottbus.

According to the filmmaker, their company, Aysor-Plus Film Productions,
received partnership proposals from companies from France, the
Netherlands, Czech Republic and Hungary.

Also supporting the project are RA Ministry of Culture and Armenia’s
National Film Gallery. The film is set to begin production in 2010
and is dedicated to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Emil Lazarian

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
