The Izyum City Council, in Ukraine’s Khargov district, debated and
unanimously affirmed leader of Izyum’s Armenian community Nikoyal
Adikhanian’s address in condemning the Armenian Genocide.
The city council decided to appeal to Ukraine’s president and
Supreme Rada, with the request of supporting the Armenian people
and legislating the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, reports
Analitiza.at.ua.
As noted by Adikhanian, this is a very important event for not only
Ukraine’s Armenian community, but also for the entire Armenian people.
He went on to express his gratitude for the support of all his
colleagues.
This is already the third decision having to do with the Armenian
Genocide that has been approved in the Ukraine: on April 19, 2005,
Crimea’s Supreme Rada approved a decision to designate April 24 as a
memorial day of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. And on November
26 of this year, the capital’s Goloseyev district council condemned
the Armenian Genocide carried out by the Osmanian Empire.
