ARMENIA ENDS 2009 WITH 5.5% INFLATION

YEREVAN, December 29. /ARKA/. On Monday, Arthur Javadyan, chairman
of the Central Bank of Armenia, summarizing the results of 2009,
said the country would end this year with 5.5% inflation.
"Growth in crediting the economy, comparison of the upper inflation
benchmark and the achievement of the set goal give us ground for
saying that the central bank’s policy of spurring the economy can be
viewed as successful," he said.
According to statistical reports, 3.1% inflation was recorded in
Armenia in Jan-Nov 2009, compared with the same period a year earlier.
Consumer prices rose 4.5% in November, compared with December 2008,
and 1.2%, compared with October 2009.
