NAS HOSTS CLOSING CEREMONY OF UNESCO-ANNOUNCED INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF ASTROLOGY

The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Armenia hosted today
the closing ceremony of the UNESCO-announced International Year
of Astrology.
NAS President Radik Martirosyan summed the year and said that 2009
year of astrology in Armenia was remarkable for a number of events
and achievements.
Particularly, R. Martirosyan highlighted the festive celebrations
dedicated to astrologer V. Hambardzumyan’s 100th anniversary.
The coordinator of the International Year of Astrology, the co-chair
of the Armenian astrology union Areg Mikayelyan told reporters the
year was rich in events in the sphere of astrology. This year we are
committed to make the sphere more available to the public, establish
society-astrology ties, he said.
According to the co-chair, Armenia should have advance in this sphere
since there are positive changes in the sphere already. The sphere
in Armenia will regain the glory once it had.
At the end of the ceremony many sphere representatives were awarded
prizes by the Armenian astrology union.
