In 2010 we will see what society chooses: Expert

14:10 / 01/05/2010`We did not have impressive achievements in 2009,
but as a significant progress Armenia-Turkey process can be marked,
that might aggravate the situation in the country yet making Armenia
participant of a big international game. It is good if a state is
capable of playing these games, the worse part is that there is no
result and more complicated situation was brought about. The rest was
entailed by this process,’ Senior Analyst of the Armenian Center for
National and International Studies Manvel Sargsian told NEWS.am,
summarizing 2009 events.

The second significant factor the expert considers economic situation,
showing no relation between the governmental views and actual results.
`In the end of 2008, Tigran Sargsyan stated that this year will be the
one of law and public control, whereas in the end of 2009 he joined
Republican Party of Armenia ‘ oligarchic club of oligarchic
authorities. However, the good thing is that country saw its Premier,
and all over destruction of authoritative demagogy, plus purification
of political and information field from demagogy, which is very
crucial. The society became hard-to-please and I see considerable
progress in society. The rest are neglects,’ the expert said.

As to 2010 forecasts, Sargsian considers that `coming year should
become cleanser or huge pollutant of the stables. Crisis reached the
phase when it is difficult to imagine where it would lead to. If this
situation is protracted for another year, it will turn into chronic
ailment. 2010 will show whether society is capable of insisting on
changes or people will get addicted. In the second case it will
develop into chronic ailment. In 2010 we will see what way the society
chooses,’ Sargsian concluded.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
