"If the Constitutional Court found more suitable to discuss the
Armenian – Turkish protocols with closed doors it means there are
basis for it", – announced the Republican Party Secretary Edward
Sharmazanov commenting on the decision of the Constitutional Court
to hold a closed door meeting instead of the open door.
He mentioned that the constitutional Court should act according to
the RA Legislation and he sees nothing unlawful in substituting the
open door sitting with closed door.
"As our colleagues from opposition have presented an application it
is very normal if the Constitutional Court takes it into consideration.
The Armenian – Turkish relations are very sensitive for Armenian
nation and they need a serious discussion",- the Republican Party
Secretary mentioned.
He is sure that the decision of holding a closed door session shouldn’t
become an issue of discussions, and even more he thinks that if the
ARF letter would not be added to the case yesterday it could be a
reason of more discussions.
Sharmazanov didn’t like to make any previsions concerning the upcoming
decision; he didn’t want to express his thoughts before the decision
would be announced, especially when the party had already expressed
his point of view."
"We do not see preconditions in these protocols, if there would be any
word about the preconditions first of all Armenia would have the right
to speak about them as it was Turkey that blockaded Armenia. But we of
course understand that in the 21st century we shouldn’t speak with our
neighbors with the language of preconditions", – mentioned the NA MP.
He stressed also that the process of recognizing the Genocide should go
on and the Armenian side should do everything for Turkey to recognize
the Genocide one day.
