Aydin Mirzazade The rapprochement between Turkey and Russia is of
great importance for Azerbaijan, Aydin Mirzazade said.

The rapprochement between Turkey and Russia is of great importance
for Azerbaijan, since it can have a positive impact on the settlement
of Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijani
MP Aydin Mirzazade has told.

"Turkey and Russia intend to expand aspects of cooperation, where the
sphere of economic relations becomes a top priority", said the deputy.

He considers that Russia and Turkey do not only want to establish
economic relations, but also to attain reconciliation of their
positions on various international issues, voicing the single position
in the future.

Mirzazade stressed that the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict has a
special role in the relations between these two countries. "Therefore,
I think that during the visit of the Turkish Prime Minister to Moscow
he will again raise the issue of Karabakh, like during the recent
visit to Washington. The Prime Minister of Turkey plans to voice
expectations about Moscow’s active participation in dealing with
the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh conflict",
said the deputy.

As for the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to Yerevan,
the MP noted: "There has been a sufficient progress in resolving the
Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, and Russia intends to play a leading
role in this issue" According to the deputy it does not matter for
Azerbaijan who is the initiator. The very fact and essence of the
resolution is a priority.

However, the deputy still believes that both visits will have no
direct impact on the solution of the conflict.

" Russian FM’s visit to Yerevan is widely anticipated in connection
with the situation established after discussion of the Armenian-Turkish
protocols in the Constitutional Court of Armenia, considering the
fact that some political forces of Armenia do not perceive relations
between Armenia and Turkey unambiguously", concluded Mirzazade.

In turn, MP Zahid Oruj appreciated the visit of the Turkish Prime
Minister to Moscow.

"The development of relations between Turkey and Russia will have a
positive impact on the situation in the Caucasus, especially in the
solution of the Karabakh problem", said Orudj.

According to him, the improvement of economic ties between Turkey
and Russia creates good conditions for developing relations in the
political space.

In particular, it prevents the stimulation of the nonconstructive
position of Armenia in the South Caucasus region. "So there has been
some easing in the policy of Armenia, which is associated with Russia’s
direct pressure", said Orudj.

As for Foreign Minister Lavrov’s visit to Yerevan, MP noted that
without Russia’s consent the discussion of the document on the
Armenian-Turkish relations would have been impossible in Armenia.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
