HHK In Support Of Voting On Protocols Ratification: Sahakyan

HHK IN SUPPORT OF VOTING ON PROTOCOLS RATIFICATION: SAHAKYAN

Tert.am

Armenia’s ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) had a large
part in the process of establishing Armenian-Turkish relations,
and "that which it has created, it will see through till the end,"
said HHK parliamentary faction leader Galust Sahakyan, responding
to a question by Tert.am on whether yesterday’s Constitutional Court
decision provides grounds to say that HHK is in support of voting on
the ratification of the Protocols in parliament.

Sahakyan deems the Constitutional Court’s decision, which declared the
Armenian-Turkish Protocols to correspond to the country’s Constitution,
as positive, noting that "a good document has been created, taking
into account, as well, the document’s introduction [foreword]."

The HHK faction leader agrees that numerous public and political
forces have concerns surrounding the Protocols, but he "understands
them." "The processes are going to be quite complex, but there are no
results without battles," said Sahakyan, while speaking with Tert.am.

Continuing, Sahakyan explained by saying the complexity stems from the
fact that Armenia is dealing with Turkey, a country responsible for a
huge calamity toward humankind, and whose current governing leadership
is becoming more and more of an accomplice to their country’s past
leaders who were directly responsible for the Armenian Genocide. That
being said, the faction leader of Armenia’s ruling party noted that
Armenia is attempting to resolve the issue of establishing relations
with Turkey, who is important for Armenia, within the present civilized
world’s laws.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
