/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The Turkish government makes every effort to ratify
the Protocols on normalization of relations with Armenia without
preconditions, Ahmet Davutoglu, Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs
told a conference at London-based King’s College.
Mr. Davutoglu emphasized that Ankara seeks both "to normalize relations
with Yerevan, and to alleviate tensions in the region." "We expect
to create a region, where drive from Baku via Nagorno-Karabakh,
Yerevan and Nakhijevan to Kars," he said.
He believes that in order to resolve the problems in the Caucasus
and to reduce tensions, high-level meetings should be held, Haberturk
reported.
The protocols aimed at normalization of bilateral ties and opening of
the common border between Armenia and Turkey were signed in Zurich by
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and his Turkish counterpart
Ahmet Davutoglu on October 10, 2009, after a series of diplomatic talks
held through Swiss mediation. On January 12, 2010, the Constitutional
Court of the Republic of Armenia found the protocols conformable to
the country’s Organic Law.
