ARKA
Jan 18, 2010
YEREVAN, January 18, /ARKA/. Arsen Ghazarian, the chairman of the
Union of Armenian Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, said this year’s
economic growth may exceed the government-projected 1.2% target.
In an interview with ARKA news agency he said a bigger than projected
economic growth can be achieved given a consistent implementation
of government-designed anti-crisis measures and effective operation
of businesses.
In his opinion, if the global economy avoids another wave of crisis
Armenian economic growth in 2010 may go well beyond the projected
numbers. "I believe, I am sure that we will achieve a higher growth’
he said.
According to the official figures, in January-November Armenian
GDP contracted by 16% falling to 2.786.7 trillion Drams. The GDP
in November alone was 6.6% down from GDP in October. The government
projected a 1.2% economic growth for this year.
