Martirosyan, 23, (USA) spent his 27th professional fight and by a
unanimous decision of the judiciary won a victory over the former
world champion, Ugandan Kassim Ouma at the Hard Rock Hotel-Casino in
Las Vegas (US) on January 17.

It was one of the best fights in Martirosyan’s career. The Freddie
Roach trained Martirosyan, a 2004 Olympian, mixed his shots, moved
smartly, and stayed focused on the way to a unanimous decision. The
scores were 97-92, 97-93, 97-93.

Beating Ouma, the Armenian boxer, defended his NABF and NABO titles.

Vanes Martirosyan is an Armenian professional boxer in super middle
weight. In professional boxing he held 27 fights, and in all the
battles won victory (17 KOs). NABF and NABO title holder. His family
moved to Glendale, CA, when he was four years old, he started boxing
when he was seven. Martirosyan was taken out of junior high school by
his father and became home-schooled when it was obvious that he needed
to keep his son’s fighting confined to the ring. In 2004 by winning
a match against Haiti’s Andre Berto in the 1st AIBA American 2004
Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Tijuana, Mexico he secured a spot in
the US Olympic Team. He represented the U.S. at the 2004 Olympics as
a Welterweight. He finished his amateur career with 120 wins, and 10
losses. All losses except to Nick Casal and Aragon, have been avenged
in rematches. At the age of 20, he turned professional at 154 pounds
with Top Rank (of Bob Arum). Vanes is co-managed by Shelly Finkel,
who also manages or advises IBF super middleweight world champion Jeff
Lacy, former world champions Manny Pacquiao and Fernando Vargas, and
others. Vanes was trained by Freddie Roach. , who was voted 2003 and
2006 Trainer of the Year by the Boxing Writers Association of America.

He later switched to Ronnie Shields and won his last fight with
Dan Wallace by a knockdown, at the first round. At the beginning of
February 2008 he is 19-0. On January 4, 2008, Super Welterweight Vanes
Martirosyan won a 6 round unanimous decision versus Clarence Taylor.

Judges Lou Filipo, Max DeLuca and Marty Denkin scored 60-54, for
Vanes. In his latest fights, Vanes beat Billy Lyell (18-7, 3 KOs),
Harrison Cuello(18-9-2), and Andrey Tsurkan (26-4-0). Vanes was the
victor in all of those fights staying undefeated. On December 19,
Vanes defeated WIllie Lee fighting out of New Orleans by way of
knockout in the 3rd round. Vanes advances to a record of 26-0.

Kassim Ouma is a boxer from Uganda. Former IBF Heavyweight. In
professional boxing held 35 fights, 26 victories (7 KOs), 7 fights
were lost (1 KO).
