Chairman of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Economic
Issues Vardan Ayvazyan considers that it’s quite real to achieve
the economic growth envisaged by this year’s state budget. He added
however, that it is necessary to amend the tax field to ensure
economic growth.

Last year the government implemented amendments in the tax
legislation. According to Vardan Ayvazyan, the changes were necessary
but not sufficient for the full rehabilitation of the economy.

According to the MP, the reforms will continue this year, and a number
of legislative initiatives are already being worked out.

Armenia can anticipate at least a 5% growth in case of opening of
the Armenian-Turkish border, Vardan Ayvazyan said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
