Yesterday by the initiation of the Armenian side held telephone
talks between the Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and
his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu.

Minister Nalbandian expressed his surprise at the Turkish Foreign
Ministry’s statement on the RA Constitutional Court’s verdict on
January 18. The Minister noticed that it is at least surprising
that the Turkish side saw preconditions and contradictions with the
main aim of the Armenian-Turkish protocols in the verdict of the
RA Constitutional Court, which confirmed the constitutionality of
the documents.

The Armenian FM also voiced his concern over the absence of progress
in the ratification process in Turkey since October 2009. At the
same time the Turkish side continuously and obviously is setting
preconditions, which creates an impression that Turkey is trying
to find artificial pretexts thus endangering the Armenian – Turkish
bilateral normalization process.

Minister Nalbandian welcomed the fact that the Turkish Foreign
Ministry on 18 January publicly reconfirmed the danger of suggesting
preconditions. The Armenian FM called on his Turkish counterpart to
remain committed to the letter and spirit of the Armenian-Turkish
protocols and to progress rapidly, informs the press and information
department of Armenian Foreign Ministry.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
