PRESIDENT AWARDS WRITERS AND ARTISTS WITH PRIZES

Today, Armenia’s President Serge Sarkisian has awarded writers and
artists with 2009 State Prizes in literature and culture.
The 2009 Prize for Literature has been awarded to Vahagn Grigorian
for his novel ‘River of Time’. Congratulations to composer Yervand
Yerkanian who has won the 2009 Prize for Music for his work
‘Chronicle’.
Among awarded persons of 2009 were Ararat Aghasian (Prize for Arts),
Gravard Akopian together with Murad Asratian and Vigen Ghazarian
received Prize for great work ‘History of Armenian Art’.
Prizes for Architecture and Urban Planning were awarded to Grigor
Azizian, Stepan Lazarian, Levon Qristaforian, Hyke Ayvazian,
Vagandukht Eregian, Griman Hovsepian, and Albert Hayrapetian (for a
new administrative complex of the Ministry of Defense).
"With great pleasure I award in behalf of nation and state those
people who develop Armenian culture and create livelong values," said
President Sakisian. Time is the best judge, said President adding that
"anyway we must be grateful and appreciate."
List of Armenian state Prizes has been increased, announced President.
He said prizes for exact, physical, social sciences, and liberal arts
will also go to the best persons of the year.
"We’ve also decided to double the money prizes.
"Crisis, sure, has heavily struck Armenia. It can’t be said the
problems had gone, but we can see positive developments. It’s the
certain true that even at difficulties we must appreciate role of
people of art and science," said President.
